What is Nearby?
What Nearby is: Anuma uses what it remembers about you to help you meet people close by. Live in New York on web, iOS and Android.
Nearby is the part of Anuma that takes what your AI already knows about you and puts it to a new use: meeting people in real life. Open the map, see who is around, read why you two might click, say hi, and make a plan.
Available on: web, iOS, Android. Live in New York Metro today.

How it fits with the rest of Anuma
Anuma remembers what you care about from your chats and from the memories you add yourself. Nearby combines that context with proximity:
- Context. Your interests, the memories you choose to share, and the questions you answer when you set up your profile.
- Proximity. People close enough to actually meet. Someone five minutes away can become part of your life in a way someone in another city cannot.
Anuma uses both to show you people who share your interests and to explain the overlap in words, before you ever send a message. See How matching works.
What you can do
- See who is around on a live map: neighborhood groups when a lot of people are in one place, and individual faces as you zoom in to street level.
- Read the vibe check on a profile: a short note Anuma writes about what the two of you have in common.
- Wave or message anyone on the map. No swiping, no paid boosts, no approval queue.
- Find and host meetups, from a coffee in the park to a last-minute board game night.
- Ask Anuma in chat. Questions like "Who nearby is into climbing?" or "What meetups are happening tonight?" search Nearby for you.

Where Nearby lives in the app
- Mobile (iOS and Android): Nearby is the home screen. The sidebar also has a Nearby row, next to Rewards, Create, Recents, Memories and Library.
- Web on a phone: Nearby is the home page too.
- Web on a desktop: chat stays home. Open Nearby from the sidebar, or go to chat.anuma.ai/en/nearby.
Who can use it
- You need to be 18 or older. Anuma asks for your birthdate once, and that applies to all of Anuma, not only Nearby.
- You need a verified phone number (US numbers today) to appear on the map. See Get on the map.
- You need to be inside the launch area. Outside it, you can join the waitlist and keep using everything else. See Where Nearby is available.
Is it a dating app?
No. Nearby is for making friends and meeting up. There are no likes, roses or premium badges, and profiles are built from what you are into rather than a dating checklist. Some people will meet their partner on Nearby, the way they might at a run club, but that is not what it is designed around.
Not interested?
You never have to use it. Keep Nearby in Private mode and keep chatting with Anuma as usual. Nothing from your chats or memories is used to suggest people while you are private. See Public and Private mode.
